The Friend Test, Dads and the Cosmic Powers Beyond our Control

I have been thinking quite a bit about dads, and their role in your life over the last couple of weeks. A close friend lost her father 2 weeks ago, and that started me thinking about not only my own father, but also the father I am and the one I hope to be one day. One thing occurred to me, if there is one person in your life that teaches you by doing it is your Dad. I had to think about it a lot, but I so totally believe that it is true. My parents divorced when I was 2, and my dad played such a small role in my growing up, that it was hard to draw from my own life example, when so many I know have had their fathers in their entire life. But sometimes the lessons they teach are not always by being there; sometimes the lessons are examples, learned by not being there.

These Are The People in Your Neighbourhood, Life and The March Break

Life seems to be like that, we need the good with the bad, the up and the down and the in and the out. We need the life and death of things, to continually grow and my friend, in her blog called this the “duality of life”. I love it. The duality of life, because so much of what we do, can be broken down into two. Love / hate, Right / wrong; it is this balance of life that makes us who we are, and if at times when you are down, you need to remember that the up is on the way.

Some Nice Marks, a Bus Ride and Singing a Sorry Song

A couple of weeks ago, the pride in the house was thick enough to cut with a knife, because of some very good report cards. In my note to myself, reminding me to mention it in my blog, I simply said “marks” but the truth is that we are proud of not only the outcome, but the effort that both our girls put in this term, to warrant their good grades. Both made key improvements in important areas, and although they both still have things to work on, we are so happy with what they have achieved. Congratulations to Julia also, for receiving a “living the virtues” award at the school assembly. Keep up the good work girls!
